NEW BEACH ACCESS WAYS DEDICATED ON DECEMBER 10, 2018
Access No. 4 was dedicated to Jerry Melvin. Melvin was elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 1968, a position he was re-elected to for five consecutive terms. He retired from his position in 1978, but returned to serve in the House from 1994 until 2002.Melvin continues to serve with local groups, including the Walton Okaloosa Council on Aging and Okaloosa County Coordinated Transit.
Access No. 6 was dedicated to Mike Mitchell. Mitchell is a 21-year Air Force veteran who served in the Korean War. He was the first Republican elected to the Okaloosa County Commission, on which he served from 1976-92, and has actively served in a variety of civic and community efforts. Mike is also a long term member of the Okaloosa Island Leaseholders Association
Below is the Meeting Agenda item seeking approval of the construction project. Also included are diagrams of the "partially obstructed view" from the side units of the Nautilus condo at accessway 4.
The contract for the constuction was won by Floridian Construction & Development, Inc of Destin, FL. The total amount is $1,718,000 and should be completed within 165 days after starting.

5/21/18 - More progress but running behind schedule.
4/15/18 - Lots of progress at 4 and 5. Parking lot curbs being installed.
2/1/18 - Underground utilities being installed under Santa Rosa Blvd at Beach Accessway 6.
1/19/18 - Main decks and boardwark to beach under construction. Underground utilities being installed.
12/17/17 - Big pilings being put in.
11/21/17 - Accessway 5 construction is starting. Old boardwalk removed, lumber delivered, excavating for underground utilities.
